"Mert" Davenport
Many would agree with the old adage, that there are only two kinds of people in this world, those who are Irish, and those who wish they were. Muriel Duggan Spillane Davenport was lucky enough to be born Irish, and everyone who knew Mert, as she was affectionately known, knew she was as Irish as Patty's pig. Mert was very active in the Irish community and was a long-time member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, and even served as their president. She also volunteered for many years with the Hilton Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and said it brought her so much happiness to give back to the community.
