Larry Staub2025 Community Leader

Larry Staub’s leadership in our community spans forty years of public service and civic involvement. Larry retired in 2019, after a 33-year career in local government that included positions with New York State and Monroe County. It culminated with his 13 years as Director of Parks and the Seneca Park Zoo. He also initiated the County’s partnership with the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. For years, the Parks Department has helped with logistics during the Parade, as well as making some of the best and most creative award-winning floats you’d ever want to see! Upon his retirement, former County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo said, “Larry has been an incredible steward of our beautiful County Parks system, enhancing one of our community’s greatest assets. We have been fortunate to benefit from his leadership.” After first volunteering for Ronald Reagan, Larry has become a familiar face on the local political landscape. He has worked on hundreds of campaigns for Republican candidates and held leadership positions in the local party organization. Larry was a Republican National Convention Delegate in 2016, 2020 and 2024. He is a five term New York Republican State Committeeman. Additionally, Larry serves on the boards of the Landmark Society of Western New York and the Monroe County Deferred Compensation Committee. Larry’s proud Irish roots go back to his Great-Great Grandfather John F. Maloy, who emigrated from County Cork. On Friday nights you can be sure to find Larry and his family enjoying dinner and a pint at Romig’s Tavern. Larry and his wife Dawn live in the town of Perinton, where they raised twins, Larry III and Abigail. For his service to our community, we are proud to recognize Larry Staub, as the Community Leader of the Year for the 2025 Tops St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
