Founded in 1837, in a single building in Rochester, Hillside has grown and evolved continuously to meet the changing needs of our community. Today, the agency provides life-changing behavioral health, child welfare and education services that support approximately 9,000 youth, adults, and families every year. These integrated services are delivered in many different locations including four residential campuses, where youth receive intensive 24-hour support, as well as in Hillside offices and neighborhood sites, where an array of community-based services address ongoing issues facing youth and families today. Hillside also operates group homes, where young people with intellectual and developmental disabilities receive ongoing support. Hillside partners with school districts, where the Work-Scholarship Connection program offers wraparound educational and workforce development resources that increase graduation rates and student preparedness for post-school life. The proven impact of Hillside’s work is derived from the daily contributions of 1,800 highly skilled employees, and from sustained community support. This support ranges from philanthropic donations that make a critical difference in key areas of program funding, to community members becoming foster parents for youth in need, as well as people joining Hillside as employees who can make a difference throughout Western and Central New York.
