Dermot Loughran was ordained a Permanent Deacon for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester in 2017 by Bishop Salvatore Matano. Dermot’s parents, Séamus and Fidelma Loughran immigrated to Portland, Oregon from Limerick, Ireland. They instilled in their five children a great love for Irish traditions and their Catholic Faith. As a deacon, Dermot is assigned to the Parish of St. Jerome in East Rochester, where he volunteers his time with the parishioners and staff to support liturgies, catechesis, sacramental formation, visits with the sick and anyone in need of spiritual support. He attributes his community leadership to his Irish roots that have always made him grateful for the opportunity to serve God and neighbor. Professionally, Dermot is a Client Partner for Fiserv, a global leader in financial services technology solutions. Dermot’s greatest joy and accomplishment is his family. He and Janene, his wife of 20 years, have 7 children and reside in Fairport. Janene and Dermot are very active in the area chapter of Elizabeth Ministry, a support for families who suffer a pregnancy or infant loss. Dermot Loughran is a true “Man for Others” and we are honored to recognize him as the Community Leader of the Year for the 2019 TOPS St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
