Salvatore "Soccer Sam" Fantauzzo was born and raised in Rochester and is the Founder and CEO of Salvatore's Old-Fashioned Pizzeria. Inspired by a project at Eastridge High School back in 1978, Sam opened the first Salvatore's location on East Main St. Today, there are almost 30 franchised locations and outlets throughout Monroe County. Over the last decade Sam also brought back Donuts Delite and Arthur Treacher’s Fish & Chips to Rochester. Salvatore's celebrated its 40th year of business in Rochester, with donations to the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester, and Camp Good Days and Special Times. Sam has been a fan of indoor and outdoor American soccer since birth! From 1985-2000 Sam was commissioner of the Irondequoit Fall Soccer League. He ran America's first weekly soccer show "The SoccerSam Show", as well as "Kick This! The SoccerSam Radio Show”, which can still be heard every Saturday on iHeartRadio. For over 12 years, Sam worked for the Rochester Rhinos, and in 2011, he started the indoor Rochester Lancers, who lead their league in attendance until 2015. In 2017, Sam brought back the outdoor Rochester Lancers, and started the Outdoor Rochester Lady Lancers. In 2019, Sam also brought back the indoor Rochester Lancers, who currently play at the Dome Arena. Soccer Sam is married to Linda Fantauzzo and resides in Webster. They have three children Salvatore II, Roxanna (Marc), Silvio (Angela), and six grandchildren Santino, Salvatore III, Massimo, Frankie, Noella, Jovany, and another one on the way! Sam’s hobbies include indoor and outdoor soccer, futsal, beach soccer, and eating pizza! We are pleased to recognize Salvatore “Soccer Sam” Fantauzzo as the Business Leader of the Year for the TOPS 2019 St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
