The Arc of Monroe 2026 Community Organization

Since its founding in 1956, The Arc of Monroe has been a driving force for empowerment and inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in Monroe County. Over the years, the organization has grown to support more than 1,400 individuals across 40 different locations, offering a comprehensive range of services including residential options, day habilitation, guardianship, health programs, and innovative workforce development initiatives. With a dedicated staff of approximately 800 employees, The Arc not only provides essential care and advocacy, but also bolsters the local economy and fosters a stronger, more connected community. Over seven decades, The Arc of Monroe has set the standard for progressive support, pioneering the region's first supported employment program and launching transformative efforts like Project SEARCH® for young adults. These internship programs equip participants with in-demand employment skills, immersing them in real-world business environments and helping them build meaningful careers. At the heart of the organization’s mission is a deep belief that disability rights are human rights, exemplified by the Arc Alliance self-advocacy group. This group takes action by engaging with policymakers in Albany, hosting important conversations with law enforcement, and raising awareness on critical issues. Collaboration is central to The Arc of Monroe’s success, with strong partnerships forged with schools, healthcare providers, nonprofits, and over 400 local employers. These relationships open doors in various industries, reflecting a steadfast commitment to inclusion, equity, and shared achievement. More than simply a service provider, The Arc of Monroe is a neighbor and advocate, intentionally seeking ways to eliminate barriers and create opportunities for all. As they proudly celebrate 70 years of service and for the enduring impact they have on Monroe County, we are honored to name the ARC of Monroe as the Commun
