2018 Community Organization of the Year

It's About Caring for Kids (IACKids) was created in 2012 for the charitable purpose of aiding middle-income families living in the Greater Rochester area who are in need of financial assistance during their child’s long-term hospitalization.

Neil, John and Anthony Butera, three brothers, as well as their cousin Nino Pilato, and their good friend Loreto Barbone started the organization to honor a dear friend’s son, who passed away from a rare blood disorder.

IACKids helps families who do not qualify for government assistance because they have jobs.

The band played for benefits and parties for local Irish dance schools and was the regularly scheduled band when Ms. Murphy moved her pub to a larger venue on Lake Avenue.

2018 Citizen of the Year

Dan Caverly is the son of Irish immigrants from Skibbereen, County Cork, and was born and raised in Rochester. In November 2005, Dan was able to fulfill his longtime goal of opening an Irish pub. Since opening the pub, Dan has been fortunate to have met many great people, including his wife Lidza.

Caverly's Irish Pub, with its cozy atmosphere has become a staple in the local South Wedge neighborhood.  In the spirit of Ireland's pubs, you'll feel like you just entered your best friend's living room. Historical memorabilia and traditional Irish culture surround the quaint corner pub.

Dan takes pride in helping to support our Rochester community by organizing an annual golf tournament in which all proceeds are donated to the fight against Huntington's Disease.
